Built in Repetitions, Revealed in Iron
FERRAXIS WORKS has a name, a mark, and three words behind it. The part that matters, however, is the work that gives those things weight.
Today, that work moved through three major lifts.
I took the Push Press from Rack up to two sets of 150 pounds for three reps. I followed that with High Bar Back Squat, finishing at 285 pounds for five. The session ended with 60-foot Farmer’s Carries using 110s and then 120s.
A push press uses leg drive to begin moving the bar before the upper body finishes the press overhead. The Farmer’s Carry is a strongman event in which a heavy implement is held in each hand and carried for distance. Both movements are simple to describe. Performing them well is another matter.
The final working sets of the push press and squat made me work. The last 150-pound push press set reached RPE 7.5, while the 285-pound squat set reached RPE 8. Neither was a limit attempt, but neither was casual.
That is useful territory.
The weight is heavy enough to demand concentration, positioning, and intent, but controlled enough that I can continue building from it. Progress is not only the dramatic number that appears at the end of a training cycle. It is also the moment when a weight becomes more familiar, another rep becomes available, or a difficult set remains composed from beginning to end.
I am not trying to manufacture a legend out of one training session. I am building a record.
That record now includes 150-pound push press triples, a 285-pound set of five on the High Bar Back Squat, and a pair of increasingly heavy carries completed over the same 60-foot distance.
Those numbers do not tell the entire story, but they keep the story honest.
FERRAXIS WORKS is being built in sessions like this one: through measurable work, steady progression, competition preparation, and the long movement from Novice toward Open strongman.
The name is built under weight.
Discipline. Power. Rise.
