Preparing the Body for What Comes Next
Some training days are built around the weight on the bar. Others are built around making sure I am ready to put weight on the bar again.
Today was the second kind.
I kept the session light and straightforward: eighteen minutes on the treadmill, followed by breathing work and mobility for my ankles and calves. I finished with twenty-five minutes in the UIUC ARC Recovery Room using the compression boots.
The compression boots use inflatable chambers to apply pressure along the legs in cycles. They are not a replacement for rest, food, or intelligent programming, but they can be a useful part of the recovery process—especially when the larger goal is to keep returning to training ready to work.
There were no heavy implements, competition events, or dramatic numbers today. That does not make the session insignificant. Strongman training is not built entirely during the loud moments. It is also built through the quieter decisions that allow those moments to continue.
The work today was simple: move, breathe, restore some range of motion, and give my legs time to recover.
That is enough for a Sunday.
The heavier work will return soon. Today helped make room for it.
Discipline. Power. Rise.
