The Weight Answers to the Work
I trained from 8:28 AM to 9:42 AM, working through an increasingly heavy push press, high-bar back squats, and farmer’s carries.
The push press from the rack climbed through eight sets, beginning with 45 pounds for five repetitions and finishing with a 160-pound single at RPE 8. A push press uses power from the legs to help drive the bar from the shoulders to an overhead position. The progression remained controlled as the weight increased, with 155 pounds registering at RPE 7 before the final jump to 160.
From there, I moved into high-bar back squats. The heavier work began with 225 pounds for five and continued through 255 for four, 285 for four, and 290 for four. The final set reached RPE 8.
Those are the kinds of numbers I have been working toward. They are not the finish line, and I am not interested in pretending that they are. They are evidence that the work is producing something real.
The session ended with three 50-foot farmer’s carries. I opened with 100s, moved to 115s, and finished with 120s at RPE 8. In this notation, 120s means carrying one 120-pound implement in each hand.
This is the center of FERRAXIS WORKS.
Discipline is returning to the work and performing it with purpose. Power is what that work begins to produce. Rise is the direction I have chosen to keep moving.
Today, those words had weight behind them: 160 overhead, 290 for four, and 120s carried across 50 feet.
